Durban is South Africa's third largest city and of major importance both for industry and tourism. A cosmopolitan city which has been heavily influenced by the large community of people from Indian descent. Durban's location on the Kwazulu Natal Eastern Seaboard where it's coast borders the warm Indian ocean makes the city and surrounding local resorts a great favourite with holiday makers from inland South Africa as well as overseas visitors.
Durban's seafront is always lively with entertainment including an amusement park, aquarium, numerous swimming pools and of course Durban's famous golden mile where the brightly decorated rickshaws unique to Durban are mostly located. Durban has something for everyone, historic buildings, markets, cable way, piers, beaches, museum, waterfront art and music scene, restaurants and fast food to cater for all tastes. All within walking distance along the 6 km seafront. The area is greatly favoured for it's excellent sea fishing from both shore and boat.
Accommodation of all types is available including hotels, guest houses and self catering apartments. There are dozens of smaller resorts around the Durban area along the Eastern seaboard which are all easily accessible from the N2 highway which allows visitors to the area to experience different parts of the Kwazulu Natal coast without long distance travel.
