As part of the West Coast National Park, Langebaan Lagoon is 15 km long and is home to a large number of birds, pelicans, flamingos, waders and other sea birds The lagoon is ideal for water sports and has excellent facilities for enthusiasts. Langebaan lagoon is renowned throughout the world as a top international venue for board sailing and has perfect conditions for both the experienced and beginner. Canoeing, sailing, hiking and horse riding are all to be enjoyed locally. Langebaan beach is very popular with anglers to catch a variety of fish.
During the spring (Aug -Sep) the area is carpeted with wild flowers and is a natural spectacle well worth a visit. Langebaan is situated on the Cape West Coast adjacent to Langebaan lagoon and about 100 km from Cape Town and on the R27 road.
