About Cape Town
The magnificent city of Cape Town nestles at the foot of Table Mountain
which forms a wonderful backdrop to the historical city buildings. Just a few minutes
from Cape Town city centre is the colourful and vibrant Victoria and Alfred Waterfront,
now transformed from the once old dock area into a tourists paradise with it's many
restaurants, shopping malls, pubs, cinemas and views out across the bay from various spots.
The ferry for Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years leaves
the waterfront at regular intervals.
A trip to the top of Table Mountain in the cable car reveals simply magnificent views
out across the city and Table Bay.
From the city one doesn't have to travel far to reach some of the worlds most splendid beaches. Camps Bay beachfront with its shady palms and Blouberg beach with it's view of Table Mountain across the bay. After the delights of the city there are so many other places to visit and finding the time to experience them all is near impossible.
Accommodation in Cape Town and surrounds ranges from basic backpacker to five star luxury hotels. There is an excellent selection of self catering apartments and houses available. The high seaon for visiting tourists is from November through to mid February with most establishments fully booked well in advance. Early booking is a must.
